VoIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol which is the technology that delivers voice communication over internet networks such as the internet. The preferred internet medium to use is fiber or wireless technology, but ADSL and LTE can be used for smaller environments.

This is achieved by connecting IP handsets on your LAN and routing the voice communication via a router over the internet. These calls are terminated at a much cheaper rate than traditional copper based telephony technologies therefore providing a cost saving from traditional ageing copper infrastructure. Internet traffic can also be terminated over the same connection that carries the voice therefore consolidating all your services with one supplier and driving down your costs.
